Long Island, New York, lighting studio Allied Maker recently launched the Union 5 chandelier, a statement-making fixture that pays homage to and celebrates time-honoured Japanese joinery techniques.
A series of seamlessly joined wood blocks and blown-glass orbs result in a graphic grid that is at once neat, orderly and dynamic.
The circular diffusers appear to balance effortlessly atop the square-cut wood elements, with the coupling repeating in perfect mirror images; the entire fixture is suspended from a slender brass stem.
The Union 5 chandelier is offered in up to 11 standard finishes for the wood block elements; up to 12 metal standard metal finishes for the metal components; and in alabaster, matte white or opal for the glass portions. Two smaller versions are also available.
