Valor HeatShift System
The Valor HeatShift system is a passive heat management system for gas fireplaces, which redirects convective heat through concealed ducts and releases it higher in the room. This allows radiant heat to project through the fireplace glass, while less hot air travels directly up the face of the fireplace wall.
The practical result is a cooler feature wall and considerably more freedom when designing the area above and around the fireplace. The system works through natural convection, without electricity or a fan.
A raised heat outlet improves convection airflow and circulates air back into the room at a higher elevation, reducing wall temperatures and improving overall performance. Users can enjoy the peace of mind that surrounding walls, artwork, electronics and construction materials stay cool and are protected.
In design terms, HeatShift turns the conventional fireplace wall from a heat-dominated constraint into a more flexible architectural surface. Depending on the fireplace model and approved HeatShift configuration, heat-sensitive finishes such as drywall, wood, tile and stone can be brought closer to the fireplace surround. Mantels may also be positioned closer than they could in a conventional installation. A television or artwork can be placed above the fireplace with substantially less exposure to rising heat.
The fireplace model determines which HeatShift kit can be used, while the selected kit affects framing, duct routes, wall depth and outlet placement. Designers should coordinate these requirements early in the design process, before finalizing millwork, finishes, television mounting or ceiling details.
The Valor HeatShift system can be installed in several ways. A front wall plenum creates a slim horizontal outlet above the fireplace and can be painted to coordinate with the wall; side-wall grilles preserve a clean front elevation by directing heat through adjacent wall surfaces; and a top-valance installation conceals the discharge near the ceiling, creating a minimal shadow-line effect. Available options and dimensions vary between Valor fireplace models.
