The new Viana collection by Ann Sacks was inspired by the hand-laid brick facades of the medieval architecture and 14th century towers that dot the landscape of the historical southern France village.
A series of marble mosaics made from three distinctive stones, the Viana collection by Ann Sacks (a Kohler brand) is hand-crafted by artisans who hand-clip each tile before skillfully laying the pieces out and hand-netting them to create larger mosaics.
The irregular tiles in the Viana collection by Ann Sacks are then softly honed to showcase the natural veining and colour variances of each marble, which were chosen for their rare beauty and strong or subtle colourations. With remarkable depth and movement, the tile compositions naturally reflect light as it skips across the surface and have an amazingly tactile surface.
The three marbles selected for the Viana collection include Calacatta Viola, an exceptional marble that possesses a beautiful interplay of dramatic and subtle veining in shades that range from violet, lilac and amethyst to deep burgundy with splashes of gold that ebb and flow across a creamy backdrop.
Calacatta Verde, another marble in the collection, features a cream backdrop for robust veining, pooling and fine notes of soft and moss green, which crackle along the surface in a random and dynamic display.
The third marble in the Viana collection by Ann Sacks is Diana Royal, a new stone for the brand that boasts a gorgeous creamy ground that is naturally interspersed with wisps of light grey and a soft wash of colour.
Offered in 2.5- and 5-centimetre random-sized mosaics, the Viana collection by Ann Sacks is suitable for wall and floor applications, as well as backsplashes, borders and shower walls; the natural heat-resistance of the stone also makes it an ideal choice for fireplace surrounds and behind-the-range installations. The collection can also be used outdoors (depending on the climate and installation method).
