Marazzi’s latest research in the area of industrial craftsmanship has led to the rediscovery of the beauty of authentic, colourful decorated ceramics, which is exactly how Crogiolo Lume came to be. For decades, Marazzi has crafted collections with a hand-made flavour, created by combining craft skills with industrial technology.

Crogiolo represents both quality and aesthetics, reflecting Marazzi’s constant technological innovation together with a return to a human “feel” and workmanship, and the care and attention typical of hand-made pieces. These materials give spaces vibrancy and a warm, welcoming mood, that outlasts trends and stands the test of time.

The name Crogiolo is particularly important in Marazzi’s history, since it is the name of the industrial building where the brand was born in the 1930s.

It was there that architects, designers, artists and photographers were asked to interpret ceramics with freedom, leading to a fertile season of pure research.

This is the spirit behind the new Crogiolo Lume collection, perfectly reconciling a love of “hand-made” pieces and authentic ceramics with the continual innovation central to Marazzi for over eight years.

Lume, manufactured with a state-of-the-art production technology and drawing on in-depth research into glazes and colour, offers a stoneware evocation of the beauty of ultra-glossy hand-made majolica tiles, with their dense glaze and minor flaws: smears, irregularities, pitting and variations in shades and patterns make every piece, and the relative wall compositions, virtually unique.

The unusual 6×24 cm size and the exceptionally straight edges allowing almost joint-free installation, making each project decidedly contemporary.

Crogiolo Lume comes in 12 colours: Off White, Turquoise, Forest, China, Beige, Pink, White, Green, Blue, Black, Musk and Greige, and is suitable for use as a wall covering in both residential and contract projects. It is only recommended for installation on floors in private homes with a low level of traffic.
