As 2025 draws to a close, we could use a sauna. And so could many of you, it seems — our roundup of modern saunas to ward off winter’s chill is finishing off the year as one of our most-read stories from the past 12 months.

Of course, saunas were just one of so many subjects that we’ve covered since January 2025. Other hot topics: parental leave, A.I., the housing crisis, the changing nature of museums and the rise of design-forward injectables clinics. We recapped major design fairs, biennales, triennials, expos and even the second edition of our own Human/Nature conference. Oh, and somewhere along the way, we celebrated our 40th anniversary, too. (We were also acquired — more on that soon!)

Plus, just in time for hibernation season, our January/February Houses issue went live last week. It includes tours of several innovative courtyard homes, as well as a visit to an art collector’s family abode — meaning it’s an especially great time to subscribe to our print edition.

The reading material doesn’t stop there, either. We’ve also just finished recapping the standout designs of the year, collected in our lists of 2025’s best Institutional Architecture, Interiors and Products. As always, the final selections were the subject of much (friendly) internal debate, and we welcome any Instagram comments about what we might have missed.

Looking ahead, we’re already anticipating the 2026 edition of our annual AZ Awards program, which is currently open to entries, with early bird pricing available until January 23. Start planning your submissions and stay tuned for upcoming announcements about next year’s illustrious jury.

What’s next? We’re gearing up to weigh in on everything that the design industry has in store for us in 2026. (Including white paint, apparently.) In the meantime, Happy Holidays from everyone at Azure!
