Summer 2026

The June/July/August 2026 edition of AZURE is dedicated to our 16th annual AZ Awards — and also features the best of Milan, the New Museum’s expansion, the latest in building envelope systems and more!

The AZ Awards issue packs much more than our winners and finalists — though they certainly take pride of place. (And you can read all about them on our dedicated AZ Awards site.)

McGill University The Bathhouse from juniro to senior Xinzhao Li
McGill University student Xinzhao Li’s project, “The Bathhouse: from the junior to the senior”

OVERVIEW

One of the oldest schools of architecture in North America, McGill has maintained its excellent reputation by keeping its goal simple: “developing skills in both the art and science of building design and construction.” Offering community design workshops and courses on heritage conservation and sustainable design, students are constantly exposed to the ever-changing landscape of design.

Both graduate and undergraduate students have access to an exceptional range of 24-hour computer, photographic and workshop facilities. Two new research facilities have been recently introduced to further enhance students’ experience: FARMM (Facility for Architectural Research in Media Mediation), which provides access to next generation technologies, and LIPHE (Laboratory for Integrated Prototyping and Hybrid Environments), which offers fabrication services to graduate students.

In June 2021, the school also welcomed prominent Canadian architecture critic David Theodore as the new Director of Architecture. The co-curator of Imposter Cities (Canada’s contribution to the Venice Biennale), Theodore is only the latest addition to a list of world-renowned faculty members that make this institution an esteemed place to learn.
