Blox
Blox is a sturdy sculptural anchor with a warm welcome. Inspired by brutalist architecture, Maglin Site Furniture‘s newest bench frames warm, wide-plank Douglas Fir with strong geometric forms and an all-steel frame, balanced by a concave seat that’s genuinely comfortable. The result is a striking contrast of modern blockiness and natural warmth — a bold silhouette that fits comfortably in any public space, from waterfronts and parks to campuses, civic spaces and mixed-use developments.
“Blox reflects our belief that bold forms can still feel welcoming,” says Ian McAskile, CEO of Maglin Site Furniture. “By complementing a brutalist-inspired silhouette with one of the strongest softwoods available, Blox balances visual substance with stay-awhile appeal.”
The softer side of Blox comes from Douglas Fir, responsibly harvested from Pacific Northwest forests and shaped into wide planks with a gentle concave curve that invites rest, recovery and everything in between. A minimalist all-steel frame keeps the silhouette clean and lets the warm wood take centre stage, while stainless steel feet raise the frame off the ground to reduce dragging damage. Maglin’s superior coating system, available in 18 colours, helps prevent rusting and protects Blox from the elements.
Built for real life, Blox stands up to daily wear and tear in high-use public settings. Designers can specify backed, backless or stool configurations, with slats running left-to-right (LR) or front-to-back (FB). Backed and backless benches are available with or without armrests. The stools best showcase the strength of the form: supported on just one side, the frame locates the centre of gravity near the middle of the seat, distributing weight evenly so the stool stays put no matter where someone sits. Arrange them in clusters or pair them with benches to create sturdy silhouettes that feel open, rather than imposing.
