For the Colour Frame mirror for Vitra, Swiss-French designer Julie Richoz looked to a familiar childhood toy for inspiration – colourful wooden building blocks.
A striking enrichment to the ubiquitous accessory, the graphic frames transform a simple shape into something spectacular and captivating.
The four sides of the Colour Frame mirror — which is available in three sizes — are each rendered in a different hue, creating a compelling contrast that adds visual depth and interest.
Each of the three sizes include two versions that use bright and vibrant colours and a third that features slightly more subdued and neutral tones, allowing integration into nearly any room’s interior. Made from lacquered ash the three colour combinations are blue/orange, green/pink and neutral.
Along with housing the reflective glass surface, the frame of the mirrors is produced at a depth that allows for a convenient lower shelf to store small objects like keys and sunglasses or as a simple display for favourite objects (with a maximum load of four kilograms).
Vitra’s Colour Frame mirror by Julie Richoz can be hung horizontally and vertically as single pieces or in dynamic groupings that, as with the original inspiration of building blocks, create compositions with interacting colourways.
