Carnegie recently added two new patterns to its Conscious Collection of printed coated upholstery fabrics – Embellish Print and Botanic Print. Offering a PVC-alternative to traditional coated upholsteries, Carnegie’s printed coated options are a “sustainable vinyl” that is 100 per cent PVC-free, finish-free and PFAS-free. Made from a silicon hybrid innovation, the vinyl-alternative material has superior cleanability, durability and sustainability; they are also stain-resistant, bleach cleanable and antimicrobial.
Combining timeless designs with modern innovations, Carnegie has utilized digital printing technologies to lend the Embellish Print and Botanic Print coated upholstery fabrics the appearance of a woven textile, with realistic representations of historical hand-embroidered designs.
Reminiscent of a patchwork quilt, the Embellish Print references heritage embroidery and classical stitching techniques, nodding to the history of hand-crafted textiles. Utilizing an array of geometric shapes and recognizable stitch details, the printed silicone upholstery fabric brings lively embellishment to interiors. Embellish Print is available in six bold and neutral colourways.
Taking inspiration from flowering vines that grow on buildings and other structures, the Botanic Print features lookalike embroidered threadlike tendrils that spread across the surface and introduce a natural patterning to a variety of upholstery applications. Botanic Print is available in six colourways that range from subdued to punchy.
The Embellish Print and Botanic Print patterns continue Carnegie’s commitment to “setting new standards for environmentally conscious design,” and are CPUs (Clean Performance Urethanes) that are made through a process that achieves a soft hand without using DMF solvents or the water-contaminating traditional “wet method.” The whimsical yet durable fabrics are suitable for use in high-traffic areas including in healthcare and hospitality settings, workspaces and educational institutes.
