Bold and graphic, Alphabet Twill is the latest introduction by Maharam to its celebratory Textiles of the 20th Century series.

Originally designed by Alexander Girard in 1952 as a hand-silkscreened wallpaper, Alphabet Twill has been faithfully reproduced by Maharam as a finely woven upholstery fabric that features the condensed typographical motifs of letters and numbers.

Made from a cotton and solution-dyed nylon blend (69 per cent and 31 per cent, respectively), the Alphabet Twill upholstery from Maharam is finished with PFAS-free water repellent coating and is Greenguard Gold Certified. The textile is also available as a made-to-order pillow.

Alphabet Twill is offered in a palette of eight saturated and two-tone colourways that have strong visual impact: Raw Umber on Light Ochre, Yellow on Light Gray, Emerald on Ultramarine, Turquoise on White, Gray on Black, Light Turquoise on Dark Crimson, Magenta on Light Ochre and Crimson on White.

Maharam’s Textiles of the 20th Century series pays homage to some of the greatest multidisciplinary designers of the last century by reissuing timeless and enduring works to meet modern-day performance requirements. Along with multiple designs by Alexander Girard, the collection includes graphics by other iconic designers like Gio Ponti, Charles and Ray Eames and Verner Panton.
