Yotel is looking to recruit an Interior Design Technician to support the director of interior design working globally across all three brands (Yotel, YOTELAIR and YOTELPAD). The role will enable a motivated individual to support and grow with the brand by supporting the interior design information across all projects worldwide. Day to day the role will be working within the technical services team to deliver the brand identity that is specific to Yotel.

Interior Design Technician role:

  • reporting to director of interior design
  • support the interior design output
  • support new projects with ID technical input, including new developments, conversions, and renovations of existing hotels
  • have sound interior design construction knowledge
  • prepare and/or review design drawings and guidance
  • review and update Yotel brand standards biannually
  • contribute to region specific global brand requirements
  • participate in design review workshops and meetings
  • have sound knowledge of the RIBA work stage stages and ability to create packages to suit each stage
  • draft, develop and define layouts to correct local code
  • prepare finishes, sanitary and FF&E schedules and drawing packages
  • consult with design team members
  • sound joinery knowledge and ability to draft joinery intent drawings is necessary
  • create project specific design drawings and details, presentations, and guidance for use internally and to external parties, consultants, and owners
  • provide design/brand guidance to external consultants as required on each project
  • review designs at all project stages for conformity to specific brand standards, design and construction
  • participate in value engineering for each project and ensure that brand standards and quality are not compromised
  • provide interior design assistance to the technical services team in the review of feasibility opportunities or property improvement plans and renovations as required
  • prepare mood boards as/when required to support new business development opportunities and pitches to external groups
  • participate in post-opening design reviews

Qualifications and requirements:

  • a recognized interior design or equivalent design degree
  • minimum five years’ experience within hospitality design
  • a detailed portfolio must be submitted displaying experience of all aspects of hotel interior design work stage drawing packages
  • strong knowledge of accessibility, planning codes and technical requirements as it relates to hospitality
  • must be fluent in both spoken and written English
  • able to produce freehand sketches alongside strong computer design skills (BIM software i.e., Revit or ArchiCAD are preferable)
  • Adobe Suite (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design)
  • Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • aptitude to effectively handle multiple projects
  • commercially minded and a motivation to learn
  • excellent interpersonal skills
