With the Ada armchair for Lombardy-based furniture-maker Frigerio, Italian architect and designer Ferruccio Laviani reinterprets iconic 1970s Italian design with strong contemporary leanings.
Ada’s defining feature is its robust wooden cross-sectioned structure that is composed of seven chunky dowels. The armchair‘s arrangement of the ash wood elements creates a tidy architecture to which a slouchy sling seat is attached, lending the sinuous lines a supportive solidity. Together, the two contrasting elements harmoniously balance form with function.
A single volume, the seat and backrest are generously padded with non-deformable polyurethane foam and upholstered in fabric or leather (a wide range of material options are available).
Suitable for use in residential settings as well as commercial and hospitality environments, the Ada armchair by Ferruccio Laviani makes an intriguing impression no matter what angle it is approached from.
The ash wood structure of the Ada armchair can be finished in one of three standard colour options – Tobacco, Wengé or Greige – or in two special-order alternatives – Liquorice or Sand. Leather colours available range from neutrals like White, Light Gray and Beige to punchy tones like Ochre, Red and Green, while fabric choices include 18 solid hues (various white, grey, brown, blue and green tones, as well as red, purple, pink and more) and two patterns, an organic in 16 colourways and a geometric in six colourways.
