Philadelphia-based product design and retail studio Lostine recently introduced the Baker chandelier, the latest creation added to its Lola system of ceramic lighting fixtures.

Designed by Natalie Page and Robert Ogden – the husband-and-wife design duo who founded Lostine in 2011 – the Baker chandelier is a linear fixture that can be specified with differing numbers of arms and shades. Suspended from a slim metal stem (or two), the Baker chandelier has a fuss-free silhouette thanks to its clean-lined stems that link each shade. Each shade – of which there can be four or six – can be rotated to cast light up, down or sideways.

Each element of the Baker chandelier is handmade at Lostine’s studio, including individual ceramic shades; the ceramic has a lovely opacity that contributes to setting an inviting and ambient atmosphere. Sprouting from a wooden orb-like puck (with matching canopy), the ceramic shades also have a pleasing organic quality that is enhanced by an artisanal quality.

Page and Ogden (who also helm their own independent design studios, NPage Studio and RTO Lighting, respectively) appointed the chandelier a low-profile design that, when coupled with the rotatable shades, means Baker can be installed in spaces with low ceilings as well as effortlessly illuminate longer rooms.

Two ceramic finishes are available – the glossy off-white Cream and Dove, a matte bright white glaze. Furthering the fixture’s adaptability, the Baker chandelier’s central puck and canopy are offered in either Black Walnut or Clear Maple and the metal arms and stems can be Antique Brass or Satin Brass.
