Austrian solid wood-furniture maker Team 7 introduces the new Filigno shelf system, a versatile and near-limitless collection of shelving units that can create bookcases, sideboards, a highboard or a room divider.

Devised by German designer Dominik Tesseraux, who trained as a cabinet maker, the Filigno shelf system has a pared-back, timeless elegance to enhance rooms of any size and style.
Crafted through an innovative three-layer technology, the solid wood panels are just 12-millimetres-thick yet extremely sturdy and stable. The resulting fine lines of the units are clear and crisp, while glued elements and sophisticated connecting fittings are specifically tailored to support the thinness of the resilient materials.

Made from a variety of woods – walnut, oak, wild oak, alder, cherry and beech – the units are available in a range of stains, from natural and white oil to rich and deep browns.

Filigno shelving units come in seven heights, three widths and three depths, and the individual portions can be affixed side-by-side through connection shelves or placed one on top of the other. Front and back panels are offered in solid wood, contoured glass or ceramic, which allows for precisely tailored configurations.

Further, the system includes open alcoves, hinged doors, drawers and flaps that can be combined in many ways to create unique expressions of closed and open storage spaces. Special shelf dividers can be used to break up the continuity and inject variety in how the shelves are partitioned.

When used as a room divider, the Filigno shelf system from Team 7 can be a closed unit or accented by three additional variations – a clear glass, smoked glass or wood partition that cuts the depth of the shelf in half to create a visual divide while still leaving space for display on either side.
Also, three lighting systems can be integrated: for the alcove unit, a narrow LED strip is milled to the underside of the shelf and positioned near the back to cast uniform illumination; for an ambient lighting effect, the LED strip sits inside the rear edge of the shelf to highlight the back panel with a soft glow; and thirdly, LED spotlights can be mounted centrally on the underside of shelves to showcase certain objects.
