Designed by sculptor and architect Eliza Redmann, the Folded Poetry tile collection for Unika Vaev features three distinct designs that bring beauty and acoustic control to interiors.
Eliza Redmann founded her Folded Poetry design studio in North Carolina after suffering a traumatic brain injury from a car accident that upended her intended career – and life – path. Finding a new way to pursue her creative talent, Redmann began creating functional art, using the “persistent visual disturbances” she manages daily as inspiration.
With the Folded Poetry tile collection for Unika Vaev, that unique creative approach led to three tiles, each with its own compelling design – Diad, Hexad and Triad. All three patterns within the Folded Poetry tile collection feature directionally scattered surfaces that disperse and absorb sound waves, while also visually mimicking distortion. The individual designs can be used to create singular compositions or combined together in near-endless arrangements.

Diad is the first-ever design Redmann created during the early days of the COVID pandemic, and represents her exploration of using geometric paper sculptures to both capture and process her altered life experiences. The Diad tiles include four directionally scattered surfaces for total acoustic enhancement.

Providing an opportunity for maximum wall coverage, Hexad features six distinct surfaces and surrounding facets that scatter as well as absorb sound waves. The tiles can be joined together to create customizable acoustic artworks of undulating irregular geometries.

At once simple and perplexing, Triad includes three directionally scattered surfaces and is the smallest of the three tiles in the Folded Poetry collection. Triad can be arranged in dense side-by-side configurations or interspersed with spaces for a less visually intense application.
Made from PET, the Folded Poetry tile collection is available in a wide range of Unika Vaev and Wilsonart colourways.
