Dallas-based interior and architectural designer Eddie Maestri has launched his Maestri Mantel collection through his eponymous studio, a series of nine architectural fireplace mantels with bold geometric shapes. Made from a variety of materials – limestone, travertine, marble and more – the designs began as a simple sketch that was inspired by a place or experience of the designer.

With a subtle reference to classical details, soft arches and fluting, Roma (above left) is a well and true balanced form made from Menorca marble. Hollywood (above right) is informed by classic art deco arches and is made from Breccia Fiore marble.

Inspired by details found in a historic home renovation, Montclair (top) adds unexpected angles to classical detailing and is made from Nero marble. The curved layers of Swiss (above left) lend a feminine air to art deco style and is made from Savena marble. Carondelet (above right) takes influence from doorways found in the Milan district of New Orleans and is made from travertine and limestone.

Simple, masculine and slightly nostalgic, Portland (above left) is a nod to post-modernism and is made from Riviera Beige limestone. Deco (above right) exaggerates expressive decorative elements in geometric form with an outwardly bowed top and is made from Charcoal limestone.

An interpretation of the Greek key motif, Meandros (above left) maintains movement while remaining stately and is made from white limestone. A study in geometry, shadow and the unexpected, Equilibrium (above right) is a delicate balance of shapes and is made from Charcoal limestone and Argento marble.
