Swedish furniture and accessories brand Maze recently released the Phatagoras shelving system, a bigger, bolder and shinier version of its popular 10-year-old Pythagoras system.

Dubbed by Maze as the “bold shelf system,” Phatagoras was devised by Stockholm-based industrial designer Gustav Rosén (who also designed its predecessor, Pythagoras) using an engineer’s lens and is intended to make a statement.

Defined by its 10-millimetre-thick solid metal wire brackets that are fabricated in the shape of a triangle, the Phatagoras shelving system makes visually impactful and impressive storage solutions that are as artful as they are functional.

The striking triangular brackets are rotatable in four different directions and can be effortlessly placed in 90-degree corners, allowing for the creation of personally curated displays. From a single shelf to a multi-shelf set-up, the Phatagoras system from Maze allows for complete freedom.

While the new “phat” brackets are suitable for use with existing shelves from the Pythagoras system (except for the desk), Maze has also created 18 limited-edition Copper Stratos shelves to celebrate the release of the new Phatagoras; featuring a handmade metal surface, each of the Copper Stratos shelves has its own unique look and personality.

Other shelving options for the Phatagoras brackets include natural oak, ash and walnut wood versions, plus MDF in three water-based lacquer colourways: Fern Green, Black and White.

The Phatagoras brackets themselves are available in four powder-coated colourways: Ink Black, Porcelain White, Chrome and Kalahari (a warm terracotta).
