A collaboration with Grand Rapids-based industrial designer Michael Welsh, the Rockford Litter bins from Landscape Forms elevate the humble waste receptacle to one with both elegance and modern sophistication.
With a large-volume capacity of 45 gallons and the option for side or top openings, the Rockford Litter bin is as functional as it is attractive and can play an integral role in a landscape’s visual identity.
The origami-inspired side-opening version features a lid that resembles a folded paper plane that seems to float above the container, while the top-opening iteration has a lid similar in shape to an oblique pyramid with the faces cut out. Both models can stand alone or be grouped together to form litter, recycling and compost stations.
Strengthening the visual impact of the Rockford Litter bin is the ability to colour-code the tops to clearly communicate its accepted content. Made from durable and recyclable steel, the body and lid can be powder-coated in 11 bold and vibrant colourways from Landscape Forms’ fine-textured Vivid Series; in 7 metallic tones from the Neutral Series; and 9 sophisticated tones from the Architectural Series. Custom signage and graphics to denote the appropriate contents can also be specified.
Also, a lockable front-access door and bag catch allows for easy servicing and comfortable removal of contents. The Rockford Litter bin can be installed freestanding, embedded or surface-mounted.
