S 661 Chair by Thonet

German designer Günter Eberle won a silver award at the 1954 Triennial design exhibition in Milan for his moulded plywood S 661 chair for Thonet, noted for its fluid design and elegantly curved seat shell.

Now, that original design has been relaunched for use in dining rooms, kitchens, offices and such public spaces as restaurants and waiting areas.

Offered in a range of woods and colours, the collection includes numerous versions of Eberle’s original and is available in moulded walnut, oak and beech in natural finishes or stained rust red, olive green or black.

A tubular steel frame, in a chrome-plated finish or powder-coated in white or black, completes the seat. Its strikingly minimal shape is softened by the visible wood grain and subtle curves.
