Expertly merging artistry with functionality, the Vika collection by Amsterdam-based industrial designer Khodi Feiz for Abstracta in collaboration with Unika Vaev is twofold – an elegant ceiling light fixture and sculptural floor screen.
The sleek and linear Vika acoustic lighting features a sound-absorbing core that is partially comprised of 100 per cent recycled PET bottles and sandwiched between layers of lovely acoustic felt; engineered with an NRC rating of 0.9, the pendant reduces low- and high-frequency sound.
Suspended from the ceiling at two points with near-invisible cables, the inverted V-shaped luminaire brings visual impact over desks, in meeting rooms and other spaces, with the LED tube providing a pleasing ambient lighting overhead. The Texfel PET felt outer layer is available in beige, blue, dark grey and light grey.
Meanwhile, the Vika floor screen turns the V-shaped form vertical to create an undulating and sculptural sound-absorber that can also be integrated with optional lighting. Similar in composition to the Vika lighting fixture, the floor screen is available in two sizes – a smaller oblong version similar to a pillar and a larger one that doubles as a space divider.
Both variations of the Vika floor screen are set on a black-coated metal base and also available in the same four colourways as the Vika acoustic lighting fixture, with the beige and light grey options casting brighter illumination and the darker blue and dark grey emitting a more subdued and moody light.
The two elements of the Vika collection by Khodi Feiz for Abstracta with Unika Vaev are low-VOC, Oeko-Tex certified, contain no conflict materials nor fire retardant additive, helping to contribute to healthier interior spaces.
