Spearheaded by The Miami Center for Architecture and Design, the inaugural edition of Open House Miami will delve into themes including Sacred Spaces, Culture Resilience, Building Miami, Sports, Glamour & Grandeur, Curiosities & Colourful Past. The two-day long festival is all free and open to the public, and will give attendees access to over 50 individual experiences in 15 distinct neighbourhoods with support from 75+ partners. Open House Miami will explore the stories, design, architecture, and experiences that define the vibrant city.
Open House Miami is part of a global effort to make cities more open, accessible, and equitable by providing unique views and perspectives to residents and visitors.
Key Events:
- Lummus Park Historic District: Tour goers will experience the Park’s historic buildings, including the Wagner Homestead, the oldest residence in Miami, the Scottish Rite Temple, Miami’s oldest Art Deco building, historic residences and more.
- Brickell Avenue Walking Tour: Named after the Brickells, one of Miami’s pioneer families, the once wilderness road has been transformed into a high-rise financial and residential district with amazing eateries, nightlife, shopping with preservation of historical buildings and greenspaces.
- Mass Making In Miami: A Resilient Narrative by Atelier Mey Architects: The first mass timber structure in Miami Dade County, Mass Making, opens up to offer Open House Miami visitors a storyline on the regional history of Southern Yellow Pine mass timber and the implementation process in Miami and the region.
