Hout by Keilhauer

Inspired by classic A-frame structures, the Hout lounge chair by Stockholm-based studio Afteroom for Keilhauer has a distinct look — its triangular FSC-certified solid wood legs culminate in crescent-shaped armrests whose gentle curves echo that of the seat. The upright position of the backrest is ideal for casual meetings, while optional cushions enhance the softness of the fully upholstered back and seat. The frame is available in six wood stains, and an array of textiles and leathers can be selected for the upholstered portions.

Archipen by NOOM

With her Archipen lounge chair for NOOM, Ukrainian industrial designer Kateryna Sokolova pays homage to the work and principles of avant-garde artist Alexander Archipenko — a pioneer of Cubism who also recognized the “void” as a constructive element in art and architecture. This sensibility is translated through the chair’s sculptural ash wood frame, which combines vertical and horizontal planes with moments of openness. The generous seat and curved backrest (in a range of textiles or leathers) form a comfortable perch, while the extra-wide armrests do double duty as a surface for a coffee mug, book or laptop.

Deneuve by Bernhardt Design

French designer Patrick Norguet puts a contemporary spin on the classic lounge chair with his Deneuve for Bernhardt Design. The chair’s moulded ash or walnut shell opens as it extends upward to ergonomically support the sitter and create a sense of privacy. Sophisticated and approachable, Deneuve features a stainless-steel swivel base in polished or powder-coated finishes, and contrasting textiles can be used on the back, seat and cushion, allowing for creative freedom and personal tailoring.
