Named for the effect of the sun and moon glowing through a soft fog, the new Halo light series by Maarten de Ceulaer effectively marries function with poetry. Comprised of sculpturally pure lines, the Brussels-based designer concealed the working elements within the half-circle glass element and rounded metal base to present a seamless object.
To achieve its hazy glow, de Ceulaer experimented with thick blocks of glass, eventually sandblasting the pieces to have gently rounded edges and embedding an LED that only shines through the contour giving it the effect of floating in space.
The Halo collection includes a table lamp, floor light, wall sconce and a range of suspensions, all of which are available with black aluminum or brass bases.
