AZURE Pirouette Turning Points in Design Thumbnail

The Museum of Modern Art announces Pirouette: Turning Points in Design, an exhibition highlighting design as an agent of change. Organized by Senior Curator Paola Antonelli, the exhibition will include a wide range of objects from MoMA’s collection, with a deep impact on the design field or on the world at large. Pieces include furniture, electronics, symbols, information design and more, from the 1930s to today. Some of these objects are universally recognizable, while others might be known only to a smaller audience. They offer unconventional solutions to conventional problems, or designed brand new and more evolved studies and solutions. Seen together, the objects in the exhibition highlight how design helps people bring about change, or adapt to it.

The Handwashing Station “For The Community By The Community” is a centerpiece of the Pirouette: Turning Points in Design exhibition. Created by Nifemi Marcus-Bello to answer the question ‘How can design help reduce the spread of COVID-19’, this innovative design combines functionality, accessibility, and sustainability with a local public and private health sector context in mind.
