ForrestPerkins is currently seeking a Senior Interior Designer, Project Manager to join our Dallas office.
The Opportunity
- To provide design leadership and mentorship to project teams, facilitating sound resource management, and lead teams to develop the highest quality deliverables.
- Maintain and enforce ForrestPerkins brand standards to deliver high quality, innovative design.
- The Senior Interior Designer, Project Manager is a leadership position with the responsibility of overseeing interior design projects from inception through completion.
- We are seeking an individual with strong design, technical and communication skills who can work with and direct the project team through all phases of a project, including presentations, client interaction, schedule management and financial performance.
- This person will work closely with Studio leadership in the day to day management of the interiors staff and communication across offices on staffing and project related issues.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading the creation of the project design narrative and design graphics for concept presentation materials.
- Collaborate directly with Principal In Charge (PIC) for design review and approval of design package through design process.
- Leads and/or works in tandem with Senior Architectural Designer & Senior Architect to space plan and design the interior architectural envelope.
- Manage and lead teams with design leadership to meet client expectations and ensure the project design brief is followed.
- Lead, manage, and hold team accountable for project work.
- Lead teams to ensure deliverables meet ForrestPerkins design quality standards.
- Lead/assist project team in the development of project deliverables, including interior architectural drawings and/or coordinate with appropriate architectural staff, to ensure compliance in quality, design, and appropriate building codes.
- Lead/assist project team in the completion of FF&E design & documentation based on project program, budget, and standards. Provide final review of FF&E specifications.
- Ensure all deliverables, deadlines, and budgets are met.
- Lead quality control review for projects to ensure documents meet ForrestPerkins’, client, and Brand standards
- Ensure full coordination between Consultant, AOR, and interior design documents.
- Managing project team, both internal and external, to ensure proper coordination with all consultants and project team members, where required.
- Oversee the review of shop drawings. Responsible for final approval of FF&E shop drawings.
- Create staffing plans and managing project deliverables to meet project milestones
- Prepare and communicate accurate timelines, task lists, and project schedules
- Coordinate with Project Managers across the firm on matters concerning staff assignments, resource utilization and project deliverables – when required.
- Oversee the review of furniture installation plans for conformance to specifications, brand standards. Ensure all consultant drawings and related physical elements are coordinated with FF&E and applicable building codes.
- Attends and/or directs on-site meetings with owner, consultants and contractor inclusive of construction review and FF&E installation, as necessary.
- Establish staffing needs per project and manage a balanced fee.
- Participate in monthly project Financial Reviews to evaluate project performance, staff adjustments, add-service needs, and aged accounts per project.
- Lead and/or assist Studio Leader in the oversight of project financials including budgets, fees and invoicing.
- Lead and maintain client relationships ensuring client satisfaction, providing the highest level of customer service.
- Provide guidance and leadership to teams in developing strong client relationships.
- Mentor junior staff
- Assist Studio Leader in developing design services proposals and negotiating contracts
- Implement and manage ForrestPerkins design and documentation standards to ensure project delivery success.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree – from a 4 year CIDA accredited Interior Design program or equivalent
- Minimum of 8 to 15 years of hospitality and/or multi-family design experience
- NCIDQ certification
- Thorough understanding of hotel brands in the 4-5 star range
- Mastery of the written specification process for FF&E and developing FF&E matrices
- Working knowledge of brand standards and proven ability to execute them
- Strong presentation skills

- Thorough understanding of architectural interior design

Must have experience in the following:
- Design team leadership
- Writing FF&E specifications
- FF&E budgeting
- Knowledge of NY building codes and the ADA guidelines
- Ability to develop Design Narratives and FF&E schemes
- Space planning, hand sketch ability a plus
- Ability to think and articulate interior architectural design in 3-dimension.
- Management of detailed construction documents including floor plans, furniture floor plans, RCP, power plans, elevations, details and sections, and finish schedules
