The MoMA is offering an Exhibition Design and Production Internship that will go over the summer and provide undergraduate and graduate students and beginning professionals with practical experience in a specific area of museum work at The Museum of Modern Art. Working under the supervision of one of the Museum’s professional staff, the Exhibition Design and Production Internship intern will contribute to timely projects, gain insight into the functions of individual departments, and learn about MoMA’s various collections, exhibitions, and programs for visitors. Internship projects are based on Museum needs and requirements and are assigned to interns with the appropriate skills and interests.
Additionally, interns participate in professional development activities designed to increase understanding of the Museum’s various collections, exhibitions, and departments. The Museum hosts approximately 25 interns per season in just about every department. Participants may arrange for academic credit through their school, but it is not a requirement.
Department Projects & Tasks:
- Marquette-making.
- Model-making
- Support exhibition projects via drafting
- Organizing mock-ups
- Light administrative tasks.
Department Requirements:
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and a 3D modeling program
- Interest in exhibition design
- Theatrical design
- Architecture
MoMA Exhibition Design and Production Internship requires a commitment of four days per week. The schedule is Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. One must have a minimum of two years of college completed (or equivalent) by June 2024 in order to apply.
