New Zealand designer David Trubridge tapped into his time as a naval architecture student for Waka, the seating solution he developed for Swedish furniture brand Offecct: With its fluid lines inspired by boat construction, the striking ottoman/bench gives the impression that it’s floating in place.
Intended as a place for casual and creative meetings or a spot to simply rest, Waka’s body is nearly three metres in length, generous in the middle and subtly tapering off at either end. A quilted pattern on the upholstery finish adds to its uniqueness and combines industrial design with craftsmanship.
Ideally suited for use in office environments as well as in hotel lobbies or reception areas, Waka is made with a sturdy wood core wrapped in dense foam and upholstered in one of 29 Kvadrat textiles that range in tone and vibrancy. The base is black-lacquered MDF.
